Cassandra Monique Batie aka Andra Day is an American R&B/Soul songwriter and singer. Apart from a Grammy Award and Golden Globe Award she's also up for nomination for an Academy Award. Andra Days is a ferocious singer who can also write beautifully. Not only is she an expert in the throwback genre of R&B, her musical roots are gospel jazz and blues. Her debut album, Cheers To The Fall (2015), was an instant success in the genre of R&B/hiphop which earned her a variety of Grammy and Academy Award nominations. Stand Up for Something (2017) Her contribution to Marshall's soundtrack earned both accolades. Amen (2018) and Make Your Troubles go Away (2020) and her Golden Globe winning portrayal of Billie Holiday (The United States vs. Billie Holiday 2021) have all contributed to the anticipation for her next album. Andra has been born Cassandra Monique Batie on Edmonds Washington. As a child in San Diego and surrounding areas She began singing in the church and was enrolled into at the School of Creative and Performing Arts. After the graduation ceremony, she began to explore contemporary R&B music, jazz and pop however, she was enticed back to the jazz and soul singers from the earlier. An important break occurred when a performance of hers was spotted by Kai Millard Morris who subsequently took some of Day's music to husband Stevie Wonder. Motown legendary Adrian Gurvitz connected Day and the veteran businessman in music. Day got signed by Warner Bros. after gaining the attention of a huge YouTube fan base along with Gurvitz and Jeffrey Evans Buskin. The song quickly picked up and played on radio by many DJs. The singer later joined Warner Bros. Records and started working with producer Adrian Gurvitz on her debut album Cheers to the fall (2015). The album featured the hit single Rise Up which became an iconic song of social justice campaigns worldwide. Day received two Grammy nominations including Best R&B Album. The United States against Billie Holiday is a concept recording about the famous jazz musician. It came out by Day in 2019. The United States Versus Billie Holiday is a biographie of Holiday that was released the following year. Andi Matichak is an American actress. She began her career in the television industry and appeared on shows such as Orange Is the New Black and Blue Bloods. After that, she made her movie debut with Halloween as well as its sequels as Allyson. Andi is an American actress born in Framingham on 3rd May, 1994.
